The documents were intended to be a guide and a tool to share with negotiators, observers and decision-makers at COP 15 to ensure any decision from these decisions do not perpetuate gender inequalities.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5593\" src=\"https:\/\/www.women4biodiversity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/CBDCOP15_1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/>\r\n<figcaption><strong>Women4Biodiversity Director, Mrinalini Rai, opening the event at Palais de Congres<\/strong><\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5597\" src=\"https:\/\/www.women4biodiversity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/CBDCOP15_2-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\r\n<figcaption><strong>Women4Biodiversity Policy intern, Alejandra Duarte, addresses the audience during the launch of the policy briefs<\/strong><\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The session also included an open space for the audience to ask the panelists additional questions and share their experiences. The aim of it is to help participants during COP15, and side events or meetings to get a quick idea of why gender is a biodiversity issue and to be aware of the different resources that already exist in the context of the CBD so that they can be used during the negotiations, proposals, events or whenever is needed.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The resources are classified according to critical topics such as Gender and biodiversity, CBD decisions and documents, Gender Plan of Action, National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans, access and benefit sharing, land and agriculture, forestry, fisheries, coastal and marine biodiversity, gender-based violence, among others. The resources shared included policy briefs, scientific papers, webinars, and online courses.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5606\" src=\"https:\/\/www.women4biodiversity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/key-resources-for-COP15-724x1024.png\" alt=\"\" \/>\r\n<figcaption><strong>Read the entire document <a href=\"https:\/\/www.women4biodiversity.org\/publication\/cop15\/Key-Resources-for-COP15.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HERE<\/a><\/strong><\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.women4biodiversity.org\/publication\/cop15\/Gender_responsive_or_gender_blind_ENG.pdf\">Is my policy gender-responsive or gender-blind?<\/a><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This is an informative document to help negotiators identify if their proposal, argument or reflection on any of the agenda items or discussion promotes gender equality or not. This guide was designed to support anyone involved in the CBD COP 15 negotiations and any biodiversity decision to self-assess whether their proposal is gender-responsive.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Based on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ids.ac.uk\/download.php?file=files\/Dp357.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a framework and tools for gender planning<\/a> (Kabeer and Subrahmanian, 1996) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.igwg.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/FG_GendrIntegrContinuum.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gender Integration Continuum<\/a> (2017), this resource defines gender-blind and gender-responsive policies. It also contains ten questions that will guide the reader to identify entry points to mainstream gender equality criteria into their policy recommendations. The document concludes by highlighting three critical elements for the effective implementation of gender mainstreaming based on <a href=\"https:\/\/onlineasdma.assam.gov.in\/kmp\/pdf\/1625630111towards-a-gender-responsive-implementation-of-the-convention-on-biological-diversity-en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a 2018 paper<\/a> by UN Women.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5611\" src=\"https:\/\/www.women4biodiversity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/CBDCOP15gendersensitive-1024x462.png\" alt=\"\" \/>\r\n<figcaption><strong>Read the entire document <a href=\"https:\/\/www.women4biodiversity.org\/publication\/cop15\/Gender_responsive_or_gender_blind_ENG.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.women4biodiversity.org\/publication\/cop15\/Gender_responsive_or_gender_blind_ENG.pdf\">HERE<\/a><\/strong><br \/>*<em>Figure originally posted on OECD 2022<\/em><\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.women4biodiversity.org\/publication\/cop15\/WC_policy_recommendations_for_Post2020_GBF.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Policy Brief on \u00abHow does a gender-responsive Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework look like?\u00bb<\/a><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Under the premise that only a gender-responsive policy can conserve biodiversity in the long term, thus fulfilling the 2050 vision of living in harmony with nature, or more importantly, saving the lives of future generations, this short booklet contains specific text recommendations from the UNCBD Women&#8217;s Caucus for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.<br \/><br \/>The succinct text is directed to the Parties\u2019 representatives and every delegate attending COP 15 to embrace gender justice as their cause and take it forward into what will be the most important document to define biodiversity policy for the next decade. The proposals on the Goals and Targets include recommendations to delete texts that could harm biodiversity and exacerbate gender inequalities.
