Fundación Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (FARN), Argentina
Fundación Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (FARN) is an organisation based in Argentina. Its mission is the collective construction of democratic and participatory citizenship, with public policies in favour of sustainable development. It does so through political, institutional and social advocacy on the public agenda so that the environment is State policy.
The goals are
- To promote sustainable development through policy, law and the institutional organisation of society.
- To encourage the construction of consensus for the conception of public and private policies.
- To protect the right to a healthy environment.
- To facilitate access to information and participation in decision-making processes.
- To disseminate legal tools for citizens to participate in the defence of their rights.
- To train and strengthen social leaders.
- To collaborate with decision-makers, both in the public and private spheres.
- To work in favour of citizens in general, with special support for educators, Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities, and groups in situations of vulnerability.
- To generate instruments for a better performance of the authorities in compliance with environmental regulations.
FARN, in collaboration with Fundación Cauce and Fundación Inalafquen, has been integral in building national-level advocacy to ensure human rights-based approaches and gender responsiveness within national biodiversity legislation and policies.
