For Technical Training Workshop on Integrating the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Framework into Ecosystem Restoration | 9 June 2025 to 11 June 2025

Women4Biodiversity organised a Technical Training Workshop on Integrating the GESI Framework into Ecosystem Restoration: A Gender Responsive Approach from 9 June to 11 June 2025 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The workshop brought together 30 participants from South and Southeast Asia. Dibya Devi Gurung, the lead facilitator with over 25 years of GESI experience, led the workshop with thematic sessions and activities.

Why did this workshop matter?

  • Align with global frameworks like the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, KM-GBF and the UNCCD.
  • Learn from real-world case studies of women leading successful restoration.
  • Gain tools to dismantle systemic barriers in governance, land tenure, and finance.
  • Build multi-stakeholder partnerships across sectors and scales.
  • Develop actionable, gender-equitable restoration plans.

This hands-on training for Women4Biodiversity’s staff and partners explored how applying a GESI lens can transform restoration efforts into more resilient, just, and sustainable outcomes.
