Women4Biodiversity is powered by a passionate and dedicated team of women from all corners of the globe. We bring together a diverse range of expertise in policy, advocacy, communications and community organizing. Our mission is to amplify the voices of women on the frontlines of biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. Together, we work tirelessly to ensure that women and girl’s rights and perspectives are not only heard but also valued and integrated into global environmental decision-making. Mrinalini Rai

Founder and Director

Mrinalini is an advocate for environmental justice and women's rights and she brings expertise in policy analysis, advocacy, and research on gender, human rights, and environmental governance. Committed to integrating human rights and gender equality into UNCBD decision-making, she values grassroots movements and community voices. Mrinalini champions the rights of the Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities, women and girls, and youth in environmental processes, supporting community-led conservation in the global South. She founded Women4Biodiversity to pave way for the inclusion of the voices of women and girls and to enhance cooperation with biodiversity-related agreements. Mrinalini also holds an MA in Social Science and Sustainable Development from Chiang Mai University, Thailand.

Alejandra Duarte

Policy Associate

Alejandra's passion for nature and all its inhabitants led to a lifelong commitment to biodiversity conservation. She actively advocates for the inclusion of women and youth in local and international biodiversity policies, the recognition of their rights, their contributions and the effective participation of these actors in policies, in line with this work she is part of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network, and the Women's Caucus. She holds a BA in Agroforestry Engineering and a MA in Forest Resources Conservation with a focus on Forest Ecology. She has conducted research in tropical dry forests and montane cloud forests. She is also a member of the IUCN Commission on Environmental, Economic and Social Policy and Issues and the World Commission on Protected Areas.

Sumina Subba

Communications Officer

Sumina is a communications professional with more than six years of experience working in both non-profit and profit making sectors. She grew up in a house where books were considered treasures, which ignited her affinity towards words at an early age. A storyteller by heart, she loves to combine her passion for human rights with human-interest stories. Sumina is a former Open Society Foundation / University of Essex Scholar and holds a MA in Human Rights and Cultural Diversity from the University of Essex, UK.

Rubina Pradhan

Coordinator - Restore Her Rights Initiative

Rubina is a staunch feminist and development professional. She channels her experiences and expertise to advocate for systemic change rooted in gender equality, intersectionality, and environmental justice. With dual Master’s degrees in Environment and Sustainability (Monash University, Australia) and Development Studies (Kathmandu University, Nepal), she works to dismantle barriers for marginalised communities and ensure inclusive policies deliver real impact.

Nonglak Kaeophokha

President

Ms. Kaeophokha has been working in international development for over 15 years with various NGOs, INGOs and UN Agencies in Thailand. She has a background in Migration and Refugee, Environment, Development and Peace Building. Currently, she works with Spirit in Education Movement (SEM) as the Senior Programme Officer, and is currently based in Bangkok. She also occasionally undertakes independent consulting with various agencies. Ms. Kaeophokha holds a dual-Masters Degree undet the Asian PeaceBuilders Scholarship Programme (APS) which was assisted by the Nippon Foundation.

Duangkamon Donchaum

Vice President

Ms. Donchaum is a social worker based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She has experience working with local, national, and international non-governmental organizations for more than a deacde. She has worked in healthcare and other social related issues such as working with People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV), injecting drug users (IDUs), Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community members, women, children, and other marginalized groups. She holds a MA in Sustainable Development from the Social Science Faculty of Chiang Mai University, Thailand.

Nalini Singh

Board Member

Nalini Singh is a prominent feminist leader and social development specialist from Fiji, with decades of experience advancing gender equality, human rights, and sexual and reproductive health across Asia and the Pacific. She currently serves as Executive Director of the Fiji Women's Rights Movement (FWRM) and brings deep expertise from her past work with organisations such as the Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) and The Asian-Pacific Resource & Research Centre for Women (ARROW).

She is also a former Commissioner with the Electoral Commission Fiji, and presently the Chair of the Board of International Women’s Rights Action Watch – Asia Pacific, Co-Chair of the Governance Board of Women’s Fund Fiji, Trustee of Climate Talk Fiji, and an active member of APWLD.
